Delaware Valley College 39, Moravian College 0

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Freshman quarterback Mike Isgro threw for 302 yards and three touchdowns while the Delaware Valley College defense held Moravian College to just 84 yards of total offense as the Aggies notched a 39-0 shutout in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game.

With the win, Delaware Valley improved to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play while the Greyhounds fell to 2-3 both overall and in the MAC.

Isgro, who has started every game of his rookie year, had his finest overall performance to date. He completed 20 of 31 passes and scoring strikes of 21, 15 and 52 yards. Isgro also rushed for a game-high 67 yards on eight carries.

The senior wideout tandem of David Carmon and Don Marshall combined for 12 catches for 244 yards and four touchdowns. Carmon hauled in eight passes for 169 yards and one score and, in the process, became Delaware Valley's all-time leading receiver with 198 career receptions.

Marshall finished with four catches for 75 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. He has now caught 28 scoring passes in his career, leaving him three shy of tying the school's all-time record.

Meanwhile, the Aggies defense allowed just 84 yards on 45 plays, including just 34 on the ground. They also forced four turnovers and recorded three sacks against a trio of Greyhound quarterbacks.

Marshall's first touchdown catch of the game came off a trick play as he hauled in an 18-yard pass from junior tailback Jake Sheffield. It finished an eight-play, 54-yard drive that was set up by Kevin Bliss' interception on the third play of the game. Bill Miller extra-point was blocked to keep the game at 6-0 with 10:13 left in the first quarter.

After forcing the Greyhounds into a punt, Delaware Valley drove 59 yards in 11 plays to score again, this time on a two-yard touchdown run by Sheffield. The key play on the drive was a 43-yard pass from Isgro to senior wide receiver David Carmon on a third-and-22. The Aggies failed on the two-point conversion pass to keep the score at 12-0 with 2:31 left in the first quarter.

Moravian went three-and-out again and Delaware Valley went 54 yards on nine plays, capped by a 21-yard touchdown pass from Isgro to Marshall on a third-and-18 play. Miller connected on the extra-point to extend Delaware Valley's lead to 19-0 with 12:01 remaining in the second quarter. The score stayed that way into the intermission.

The teams exchanged punts to start the second half with Moravian trapping the Aggies at their own 11-yard line. On the second play of the drive, Isgro flipped the field for Delaware Valley with a 50-yard run on a quarterback draw. The Aggies scored on another long third down with Isgro connecting with again Marshall, this time on a 15-yard touchdown pass on a third-and-11 play. Miller's extra-point was wide to the left to leave the score at 25-0 with 2:34 remaining in the third quarter.

Bliss intercepted his second pass of the game on the next Moravian possession and returned it to the Greyhound 47-yard line. On the first play, Isgro connected on a 53-yard catch and run to Carmon for the score. Miller made the extra-point for a 32-0 lead Delaware Valley with 14 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Delaware Valley's last score of the game with 6:01 remaining as freshman Chad Peterman scored from four yards out to cap off an eight-play, 55 yard drive. Miller made the extra-point for a 39-0 final.

Anthony Silver finished with seven tackles and a sack for the Aggies while Justin Porter added six stops and half a sack. Bliss had two picks and two pass breakups while Murphy had one interception and one sack.

Alex Smith-Constantine and Erik Brinkerhoff led Moravian with 10 and eight tackles respectively. Carl Robinson notched an interception in the end zone to stop a Delaware Valley scoring chance.
