Delaware Valley College 19, Lebanon Valley College 18

ANNVILLE (PA) - Mike Isgro threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to John Kiphorn with 41 seconds remaining, and Delaware Valley College rallied from 11 points down in the final 3:24 to defeat host Lebanon Valley College, 19-18, in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) action Saturday afternoon during Homecoming at Arnold Field.

With its second straight, one-point, come-from-behind victory, Delaware Valley improved to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the MAC. The Flying Dutchmen fell to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

The Aggies were facing a third-and-17 when Isgro scrambled to his left and found a wide-open Kiphorn in the left side of the end zone. Kiphorn made the catch for his first touchdown of the season and the lead. Delaware Valley went for the two-point conversion to make it a three-point game but Isgro's pass went out of the end zone.

Lebanon Valley returned the ensuing kickoff to its 29-yard line and the Flying Dutchmen managed just eight yards on the first two plays. Kevin Godfrey came in to throw a Hail Mary pass and Matt Murphy intercepted it at the Aggie 23 with six seconds left to seal the improbable come-from-behind victory.

After a scoreless first quarter, Josh Evans put the Dutchmen on the scoreboard with a 24-yard field goal midway through the second quarter. However, the Aggies answered with a 10-play, 77-yard scoring drive that was capped by freshman Chad Peterman's three-yard touchdown 38 seconds before halftime. Bill Miller added the extra-point to give Delaware Valley a 7-3 lead at the intermission.

Lebanon Valley came back with 15 unanswered points in the second half to assume an 18-7 advantage. The Aggies recovered their own bad snap in the end zone for a safety to make it a 7-5 game with 10:17 left in the third quarter, and Dan Kelly connected with Adam Brossman for a 14-yard touchdown pass with 24 ticks showing in the stanza. Kelly's two-point conversion run was no good, and the scoreboard read 11-7 at the end of the third quarter.

A 43-yard interception return from Lebanon Valley cornerback Dan Stauffer with 8:56 left in the game gave the Dutchmen the ball at the Aggie 24. Five plays later, Charlie Parker dove into the end zone from a yard out. Evans' extra point made it 18-7 with 6:11 remaining.

Delaware Valley answered with a seven-play, 59-yard drive, capped by an Isgro four-yard touchdown run on first-and-goal to makei t 18-13 with 3:24 remaining. The march was highlighted by a 31-yard pass from Isgro to Marshall, who backtracked to flag in a severely underthrown pass that gave the Aggies the ball at the Dutchmen 21.

After forcing Lebanon Valley to punt after a three-and-out, Isgro and the Aggies took over at their own 33-yard line with 1:39 to go. On second down, he hit Marshall with another long pass, this one for 39 yards that put the ball at the Dutchmen 28-yard line. Isgro was then sacked by linebacker Will Keylor for a seven-yard loss, setting up a second-and-17 and the game-winning pass.

Isgro competed 18 of 36 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown while also rushing for 24 yards and a score. Kiphorn finished with 82 yards on seven receptions while Marshall caught five passes for 97 yards. Peterman, the team's third string tailback, finished with a team-high 42 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries. Starter Jake Sheffield missed the game with an injury and backup Antonio Fernanders was dinged up in the contest.

Defensively, end Anthony Silver paced the Aggies with 11 tackles while linebacker John Pursell had 10 stops and a fumble recovery. Fellow linebacker Justin Porter added nine tackles and a forced fumble.
