Football - 2006 Season Archive
Head
coach Jim Clements and the Aggies reached the postseason for the
fourth consecutive season as they went 8-3 (7-2 in Middle Atlantic
Conference) and were the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)
South Atlantic Bowl runners-up.
Delaware Valley ended the regular season by shutting out three
consecutive opponents. The Aggies were then selected for the ECAC
playoffs and dropped a 15-9 decision to Salisbury University.
The Aggies were led all season by their senior class as 22 players
competed in the final games of their collegiate careers. The group
finished as the winningest class in school history with a 41-7 record,
a pair of MAC championships, a pair of NCAA quarterfinal appearances
and two ECAC postseason games (champions in 2003).
Delaware Valley had 11 players named to the all-MAC team, including
senior defensive end Anthony Silver and junior linebacker John Pursell.
The two were later named to All-American Teams as Silver was recognized
by both D3football.com (honorable mention) and Don Hansen's
Football Gazette (third team), while Pursell was named an honorable
mention All-American by Don Hansen's Football Gazettte.
