coach G.A. Mangus and the Aggies finished another memorable season with a 12-1
record, their second straight Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) championship and
a second conseuctive trip to the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Delaware Valley
was named the top seed in the East Region and some of the team's highlights were
shown on the ESPN Selection Show. In week one, the Aggies scored 30 of
the game's final 38 points for a 37-22 victory over Curry College. The second
round featured a match-up with Hobart College and the game was scoreless until
the fourth quarter when the Aggies pulled out a 21-14 victory. However, Delaware
Valley's quest for a national championship came to an end with a 27-21 loss to
Rowan University in the quarterfinals. Senior quarterback Adam Knoblauch
capped his remarkable career by become just the sixth quarterback in college football
history (all divisions) to pass for more than 10,000 yards (11,284) and rush for
more than 1,000 (1,549) yards in a career. He finished second all-time in Division
III history with 12,833 yards of total offense while his passing total ranked
fifth on the career list. Knoblauch brought home plenty of hardware after
the season, including the MAC Offensive Player of the Year, the ECAC Southeast
Player of the Year, the Philadelphia Sportswriters Association's Outstanding Amateur
Athlete and the Maxwell Football Club Tri-State Player of the Year awards. He
was also a Gagliardi Trophy finalist for the Division III Player of the Year. Fellow
senior Damien Ciecwisz was named the 2006 recipient of the Rimington Award as
Division III's top offensive center. Knoblauch and Ciecwisz were each named to
a pair of All-American Teams with junior defensive lineman Anthony Silver joining
them on one squad. They were also three of 14 Aggies who were named to the all-MAC
