LEBANON VALLEY COLLEGE 33, DELAWARE VALLEY 26 (OT)

ANNVILLE (PA) - Lebanon Valley College Quarterback Roger Poorman scored on a one-yard sneak while the Flying Dutchmen defense kept the Aggies out of the end zone in overtime as Lebanon Valley posted a 33-26, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) victory at Arnold Field.

Lebanon Valley improved to 1-7 overall and 1-6 in MAC play while the Aggies fell to 1-8, 0-8. Delaware Valley has a bye next week and will wrap up its season at FDU-Florham (formerly FDU-Madison) on Saturday, November 16.

The Flying Dutchmen had the ball first in overtime and started the possession at the Delaware Valley 25-yard line. Pete Henning caught a nine-yard pass out of the backfield and later had a two-yard run to force a second-and-eight from the 11. Delaware Valley was whistled for a pass interference penalty in the end zone, placing the ball at the two-yard line. Two plays later, Poorman snuck into the end zone and Kevin Keller added the extra-point for a 33-26 lead.

Delaware Valley did not gain a yard on its first two plays of overtime and, on third-and-10, freshman quarterback Adam Knoblauch threw into the end zone for Melvin Hands. Hands was interfered with and the Aggies were awarded an automatic first down at the Lebanon Valley 10-yard line. Facing a third-and-goal at the four, Delaware Valley was forced to use a critical timeout. Al Glackin, who rushed for a career-best 143 yards in the game, gained two yards to set up the final play of the day.

Delaware Valley lined up late and was called for a delay of game penalty, moving the ball to the seven-yard line. On fourth down, Knoblauch's pass to Rich Gear was behind the senior and fell incomplete, giving Lebanon Valley its first win of the season.

Delaware Valley had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation as Knoblauch drove the Aggies downfield in the waning moments. Facing two, third down situations, the rookie hit Gear for 16 and 11 yards to put the ball in Lebanon Valley territory. Later in the drive, he scrambled for eight yards on a fourth-and-six play from the 34-yard line.

Delaware Valley reached the Flying Dutchmen 18-yard line, setting up a 35-yard field goal attempt for freshman Tom Rady with two seconds left. Following two Lebanon Valley timeouts, a low snap resulted in a blocked attempt as Lucas Robinson broke through the middle and rejected the kick.

Lebanon Valley took a 19-6 lead in the contest, before the Aggies scored 20 unanswered points for a 26-19 advantage with 8:57 remaining. Knoblauch hit Gear for a 12-yard touchdown with 38 seconds left in the first half and then teamed with fellow rookie David Carmon for a 53-yard scoring strike with 2:42 to go in the third quarter. Glackin upped the lead with seven-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, but Rady's extra-point attempt was blocked.

Lebanon Valley tied the game with 5:48 left in regulation as Poorman hit Jarrod Way in the end zone from six yards out to cap an eight-play, 39-yard scoring drive.

Knoblauch finished 19-for-38 for 232 yards and three touchdowns and became the first Aggie freshman to throw for more than 2,000 yards in a season (2,095 yards). He also rushed for 72 yards on 14 carries.
Glackin's 143 yards on 29 carries moved the senior into 10th place on the Aggie all-time rushing list with 1,284 yards. Gear hauled in eight passes for 101 yards and became the first wideout in school history to accumulate more than 3,000 receiving yards in a career (3,055). He will enter his final collegiate game with 189 receptions.
