Widener University 2, Delaware Valley College 1

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Michelle Cernobyl became Delaware Valley College's all-time leading goal scorer and tied both the single-season and career scoring records, but it wasn't enough as Widener University continued its best start in school with a 2-1 victory over the host Aggies in a non-conference game.

The Pride improved to 5-0 on the year, including three consecutive, one-goal triumphs. The Aggies had their record-tying, five-game winning streak come than end as they fell to 5-1.

Cernobyl, a junior forward, knocked in a pass from Danielle Heyne with 22:38 remaining in the first half to tie the game at 1-1. It was her 39th career goal to break the school record previously held by Kristin Cottman (2001 to 2004). The two points for the tally upped her season total to 32, tying Diane Bradley's mark from 1981. It also upped her career total to 89 points, placing her in a tie with Cottman for that record as well.

However, Widener's Jaime Carr banged home a rebound off a Mallory Meyer shot just six minutes and 10 seconds after Cernobyl's tally to give Widener a 2-1 lead that it would never relinquish. It was Carr's second goal of the game as she opened the scoring with 23:37 remaining in the half off an assist from Kelly Eash. Carr has 10 goals and 20 points on the year for the Pride.

Widener outshot the Aggies, 16-14, and had a 14-11 edge in corners. Katie Jensen stopped five shots for her fourth win of the year while Jackie Deschenes notched eight saves for Delaware Valley.
