Delaware Valley College 4, Cabrini College 2

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College junior forward Michelle Cernobyl continued her torrid start as she scored a pair of second-half goals to help lead the Aggies to a 4-2 victory over visiting Cabrini College in a non-conference game.

Cernobyl, the reigning Freedom Conference Player of the Week, now has eight goals and one assist for 17 points on the year. She is also within one point of second place on the Delaware Valley all-time scoring list which is held by 1983 graduate and Hall of Famer Diane Bradley (75 points).

The Aggies (3-0) held a 2-1 lead when Cerynobyl deposited an unassisted tally midway through the second half. The Cavaliers (0-3) pulled back to within one with 9:30 remaining as Melissa Benedetti converted a converted a penalty stroke opportunity. However just 2:24 later, Cernobyl deflected a Bethany Pavlik shot out of the air and past Cabrini goalkeeper Elissa Salantri for a 4-2 advantage.

Delaware Valley struck first in the game as Danielle Heyne deflected in an Amy Stafford shot just four minutes into the contest. Bridget Bergen tied it up off a feed from Erin Connolly with 9:05 left in the first half and it remained that way until the break. The Aggies responded quickly in the second half as well as Stephanie Dec's unassisted goal came just 4:07 into the stanza.

Delaware Valley held a 24-11 advantage in shots. Jackie Deschenes made four saves to earn the win while Caitlin Donahue and Salantri each played a half and each recorded five saves for Cabrini.
