CERNOBYL NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE PLAYER
OF THE WEEK
DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College junior forward Michelle
Cernobyl (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff) has been named the Freedom
Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for the period ending
September 2.
Cernobyl was named the Villa Julie College/Black Eyed Susan Tournament
Most Valuable Player as she scored six goals and assisted on another
for 13 points in two games to lead the Aggies to the tournament
championship.
Cernobyl opened the season by notching four goals and one assist
in Delaware Valley's 13-0, opening-round route of Wells College.
She then scored the first two goals of the championship game as
the Aggies earned a 3-1 triumph over Bridgewater College.
Cernobyl, a 2006 first-team all-Freedom Conference honoree, moved
up three spots from sixth to third on the school's all-time scoring
list. She has now recorded 31 goals and eight assists for 70 points
in two-plus seasons and is 19 points shy of the all-time mark held
by Kristin Cottman (2001-04).
