CERNOBYL NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College junior forward Michelle Cernobyl (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff) has been named the Freedom Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for the period ending September 2.

Cernobyl was named the Villa Julie College/Black Eyed Susan Tournament Most Valuable Player as she scored six goals and assisted on another for 13 points in two games to lead the Aggies to the tournament championship.

Cernobyl opened the season by notching four goals and one assist in Delaware Valley's 13-0, opening-round route of Wells College. She then scored the first two goals of the championship game as the Aggies earned a 3-1 triumph over Bridgewater College.

Cernobyl, a 2006 first-team all-Freedom Conference honoree, moved up three spots from sixth to third on the school's all-time scoring list. She has now recorded 31 goals and eight assists for 70 points in two-plus seasons and is 19 points shy of the all-time mark held by Kristin Cottman (2001-04).
