Delaware Valley College 1, Wilkes University 0

EDWARDSVILLE (PA) - Stephanie Dec scored with just 49 seconds remaining and Delaware Valley College had to hold on at the end as the Aggies notched a big, 1-0 road victory over Wilkes University in a Freedom Conference game.

Delaware Valley tied a school record from the 2001 season with its fifth consecutive victory as the Aggies upped their mark to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Lady Colonels, who earlier in the week defeated 13th-ranked Elizabethtown College, fell to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the Freedom.

The game was scoreless until the final minute when Lauren Lansberry raced down the right sideline and sent a diagonal pass into the box. Dec and Wilkes goalkeeper Hilary Weber moved for the ball but Dec got there first. The sophomore deflected the ball over Weber and it fell into the cage for Dec's second goal of the season.

Wilkes came right back in the closing seconds and even had three penalty corners with no time left on the clock. On the last corner, the Lady Colonels batted the ball out of the air and into the cage, but the officials disallowed the tally and Delaware Valley had the win.

Wilkes held a 26-13 advantage in shots and also had 21 corner opportunities compared to three by the Aggies. Sophomore Jackie Deschenses was solid in goal again as she made 13 saves. Weber had six stops in the loss.
