Widener University 3, Delaware Valley College 1

CHESTER (PA) -- Jaime Carr scored two goals as Widener University spoiled the Delaware Valley College head coaching debut of Carol Di Girolamo with a 3-1, non-conference victory over the Aggies.

The game was scoreless for more than 45 minutes when Carr struck twice in a span of one minute, 40 seconds. She first connected with 24:12 remaining off a feed from Kelly Eash and then found the back of the cage with 22:32 to go off an assist from Erica Rose. Mallory Mayer upped the lead to 3-0 with an unassisted tally 10 minutes later.

Delaware Valley hit the scoreboard just as time expired in the game as sophomore Michelle Cernobyl scored off an assist from fellow sophomore Amy Stafford. Cernobyl was the team's leading scorer last season with 12 goals and 28 points.

The Pioneers held a14-7 advantage in shots and a 10-7 advantage in corners. Sophomore Jackie Deschenes made eight saves in her first collegiate start for the Aggies.
