The University of Scranton 3, Delaware Valley College 1

SCRANTON (PA) - Diana Rocklein had a goal and an assist to lead The University of Scranton to its seventh straight victory, a 3-1 win over Delaware Valley College in Freedom Conference action.

Charleigh LaFronz-Emberger and Kristy McNevin added a goal apiece as the Royals improved to 9-3 overall and remained in first-place in the Freedom Conference with a 5-0 record. Delaware Valley, which cut a 2-0 first-half deficit to 2-1 on sophomore forward Michelle Cernobyl's team-leading seventh goal of the season, fell to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

The Royals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by taking advantage of one of two penalty corners in the first half. Rocklein blasted in a shot from the top of the scoring circle at the 15:15 mark. Less than three minutes later, Rocklein crossed a ball into the scoring circle that was knocked in by LaFronz-Emberger to extend the Royals' lead to 2-0.

The Aggies made it a one-goal game on Cernobyl's goal at the 29:52 mark. The play was set up by Delaware Valley senior midfielder Krista Palmer, who, after Scranton was whistled for an infraction, sent a shot towards the Royal goal that was tapped in by Cernobyl.

Early in the second half, McNevin tapped in a loose ball after Aggie sophomore goalkeeper Amy Stafford made back-to-back saves to give Scranton a 3-1 lead. Stafford finished with a game-high six saves, while the Royal goalie tandem of Kristina Goetz and Kelly Calabrese combined for three saves.
