Delaware Valley College 5, Manhattanville College 3

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Michelle Cernobyl and Bethany Pavlik scored two goals apiece to lead Delaware Valley College to a 5-3, Homecoming victory over visiting Manhattanville College in a Freedom Conference game.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Aggies, who improved to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The Valiants fell to 0-11, 0-4.

Cernobyl set up the first goal just 75 seconds into the contest as she assisted on Nicole Stefanni's first collegiate tally. However, Manhattanville came back to tie the game 14 minutes late as Abbe Grimes scored off an assist from Maura Bruen.

It was 1-1 into the intermission before Delaware Valley struck twice in a 72-second span early in the second half. Pavlik notched an unassisted tally just 3:10 into the stanza and Cernobyl followed with an unassisted goal of her own.

The Valiants made it one-goal game with 23:30 remaining as Bruen scored off a corner with Kelsey Verrillo and Alissa Tyghter each getting assists.

However, the Agies put the game as Pavlik and Cernobyl connected once gain. Pavlik scored her sixth goal of the season with 9:38 remaining off a feed from Lauren Lansberry, and Cernobyl notched her fourth goal of the year off a Shannon Shivak assist with 2:24 to go. Manhattanville scored the final tally with 28 seconds left as Heather Allen connected off a corner (Verrillo and Tyghter assists).

Delaware Valley held a 31-12 advantage in shots. Amy Stafford made her first start in goal and stopped seven shots for the win. Lauren Gagnon made 17 saves in a losing effort.
