Delaware Valley College 2, FDU-Florham

MADISON (NJ) - Senior Bobbie Fultz scored both goals as Delaware
Valley College moved one step closer to a Freedom Conference playoff
berth with a 2-0 road shutout over FDU-Florham.
The win improved the Aggies to 8-7 overall and 3-3 in the Freedom
Conference. They are tied with Wilkes University for the fourth
and final playoff spot and they hold the tiebreaker edge over the
Lady Colonels thanks to a 1-0 victory back on September 23.
As a result, a home victory over Drew University (3-10, 1-5) on
Tuesday, October 24 (4:00 p.m.) will put Delaware Valley in the
playoffs for the first time since 2003. The Aggies could move up
to as high as third place in that scenario should FDU-Florham (10-5,
4-2) lose at Manhattanville College (2-14, 1-5).
However, a loss on Tuesday would eliminate Delaware Valley even
if Wilkes were to lose at DeSales University (9-7, 2-4). A three-way
tie would favor DeSales since the Lady Bulldogs would have victories
over both Delaware Valley and Wilkes.
Fultz helped keep the playoff hopes alive as she provided all the
offense in the game. She put the Aggies on the board with 17:03
remaining off an assist from fellow senior Shannon Shivak. Fultz
struck again just 91 seconds into the second stanza with her sixth
goal of the season.
Meanwhile, the Delaware Valley defense held the Devils to just
10 shots in the game. Amy Stafford, who moved from midfield to goalie
six games ago due to an illness to the Aggie starter, stopped four
shots for her third victory and first shutout.
