RADNOR (PA) - Delaware Valley College scored three times in the
final 21 minutes to break a 2-2 tie and down host Cabrini College,
5-2, in a non-conference game.
The Aggies improved to 1-1 on the young season and it was the first
win as Delaware Valley head coach Carol Di Girolamo, who took over
the program following a six-year stint at Neumann College.
Delaware Valley scored twice in the first six minutes as sophomore
Amy Stafford (Shannon Shivak assist) and senior Bobbie Fultz (Bethany
Pavlik assist) each found the back of the cage for a quick 2-0 advantage.
It remained a 2-0 contest into halftime, but the Cavaliers (0-3)
answered in the first eight minutes of the second stanza as Kerri
Ricker and Sara Trzuskowski tallied goals to tie the contest.
However, Fultz gave the Aggies the lead for good with 20:42 remaining
as she scored her second goal of the game and the 11th of her career.
Pavlik, a freshman, gave the team some breathing room with her first
collegiate goal with 18:10 remaining and sophomore Lauren Lansberry
ended the scoring off an assist from Michelle Cernobyl with just
49 seconds to go.
Delaware Valley outshot Cabrini, 21-17 with the Cavaliers holding
an 11-7 advantage in corners. Sophomore Jackie Deschenes made 10
saves, en route to her first collegiate victory.
