Delaware Valley 3, Wilkes University 1

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Michelle Cernobyl scored all three Delaware Valley goals in the second half to lift the Aggies to a 3-1 Freedom Conference field hockey win over Wilkes University on Saturday afternoon.
The win improves Delaware Valley to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Lady Colonels fall to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Cernobyl broke a scoreless tie at the 42:03 mark of the second half when she scored off an assist from Tiffany LaRosa. At 48:36, LaRosa connected with Cernobyl again for a goal that gave the Aggies a 2-0 lead.

Delaware Valley would add to their advantage at 60:38 when Cernobyl tallied her third goal, this time off a Lauren Dubiel assist to make it 3-0. Cernobyl leads the Aggies this season with eight goals and two assists for 18 points.

Wilkes would get their lone goal at 62:48 when Megan Farrell converted a penalty stroke to cut the deficit to 3-1.

Wilkes held a 15-9 shots advantage and a 9-8 edge in penalty corners. Delaware Valley goalie Jen Gately had 14 saves, while Lady Colonel goalkeeper Hilary Weber came up with six stops.
