Delaware Valley 4, University of Scranton 2

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Junior Bobbie Fultz scored two goals and freshman Stephanie Dec notched her first collegiate goal in what turned out to be the game-winner as Delaware Valley College downed The University of Scranton, 4-2, in a Freedom Conference game.

The Aggies won their second straight game and stayed alive in the conference playoff hunt as they upped their mark to 8-7 overall and 2-3 in the Freedom. The Lady Royals, who were the only unbeaten team in conference play heading into Monday, fell to 7-5 and 4-1.

Fultz gave Delaware Valley a 1-0 lead with an unassisted tally with 13:57 left in the first half. It stayed that way until early in the second stanza when Karolyn Holody tied things up for Scranton off an Amanda Massaro assist. Massaro then scored off a feed from Kristy McNevin for a 2-1 Lady Royal advantage with 20:55 remaining.

However, the Aggies scored the final three goals of the game, beginning with Fultz's second tally off an assist from Michelle Cernobyl with 19:24 to go. The two goals upped Fultz's total to five on the season.

Dec then gave Delaware Valley the lead for good just over two minutes later as she took a pass from Tiffany LaRosa and beat Scranton goalkeeper Rochelle Paquette. The assist was LaRosa's seventh of the year, tying the senior with three others for the Aggie single-season record.

Junior Lauren Dubiel then gave the Aggies an insurance goal with 5:17 remaining, her seventh of the season. Delaware Valley held a 19-15 advantage in shots. Jen Gately made 11 stops while picking up her eighth win of the year. Paquette also stopped 11 shots in the game.
