Field Hockey

Delaware Valley 3, Gwynedd-Mercy College 2

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - The Delaware Valley field hockey team scored three times in the second half as the Aggies rallied from a 2-0 deficit and downed visiting Gwynedd-Mercy College, 3-2, in a non-conference game on Homecoming.

Delaware Valley went back over the .500 mark as it is 6-5 on the season. The Griffins fell to 5-8.

Gwynedd-Mercy scored the first two goals of the game on a first-half tally by Ashley Blackwell and Janine Reiner's goal just 70 seconds into the second stanza.

However, it was all Delaware Valley after that. Just 45 seconds after Reiner's goal. freshman Michelle Cernobyl took a feed from Amy Stafford and beat Gwynedd-Mercy goalkeeper Kaitlin Pope to make it a 2-1 game. Cernobyl then scored her team-best 10th goal of the season off an assist from Tiffany LaRosa with 24:34 remaining.

The Aggies then got the game winner with 18:39 to go as Lauren Dubiel set up Shannon Shivak for the junior's third goal of the year.

Delaware Valley held a 20-16 advantage in shots. Jen Gately made 12 saves in the win while Pope stopped 14 shots.
