DeSales University 4, Delaware Valley 1

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Bethany Hepner scored two goals and Ashley Sparango added a goal and two assists to lead DeSales University to a 4-1 victory over host Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game.

The Bulldogs have won five of their last six games and improved to 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the Freedom Conference. The Aggies fell to 6-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Sparango assisted on the first two goals - both in the first half - as DeSales jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Sparango set up Casey Opdyke with 7:23 remaining before intermission and then assisted on Hepner's first tally with just 84 seconds to go.

Hepner made it 3-0 with an unassisted goal just over three minutes into the second stanza. Senior Tiffany LaRosa put Delaware Valley on the scoreboard with 10:44 remaining as she scored her fifth goal of the season. The two points upped LaRosa's career total to 50, leaving her five shy of tying for fifth place on the Aggie all-time list.

Sparango ended the scoring with 3:37 left in the game. DeSales held a 21-11 advantage in shots and an 8-7 edge in corners. Amy Zoltek made nine saves en route to her eighth win of the year. Freshman Jen Gately stopped 12 shots in the loss.
