Delaware Valley 7, Albright College 1

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- It started out as a ballte of unbeatens and it ended with Delaware Valley College tying a school record for goals in a game as the Aggies routed visiting Albright College, 7-1, in a non-conference game.

Delaware Valley improved to 4-0 on the season and can tie a school record with its fifth straight win on Saturday in the Freedom Conference opener at King's College. The seven goals against Albright tied a 13-year-old school record when Delaware Valley defeated Cabrini College back in 1992.

The Aggies scored five times in the first 14 minutes of the game, including two each by sophomore Lauren Dubiel and freshman Michelle Cernobyl. Junior Shannon Shivak opened the scoring just 71 seconds into the contest and Dubiel followed with back-to-back tallies at the seven (Cernobyl assist) and eight-minute (unassisted) marks.

Cernoybl then scored back-to-back goals of her own just 11:16 and 13:53 into the half for a 5-0 advantage. Junior Bobbie Fults assisted on Cernobyl's second goal.

Albright (3-1) hit the scoreboard with 12:19 remaining in the first half as Angela Garnder notched an unassisted goal. However a minute later, Dubiel struck again for the hat trick as she took a feed from senior Tiffany LaRosa and deposited her team-best fifth goal of the season.

LaRosa scored the lone goal of the second half, her third of the year. Delaware Valley held a 33-22 advantage in shots, including a 25-6 margin in the first 35 minutes. Jen Gately played the first 55 minutes and made nine saves while fellow rookie Jackie Deschenes finished the contest and made eight stops.
