Wilkes University 3, Delaware Valley College 1

WILKES-BARRE (PA) - Wilkes University scored three goals in the first half as the Lady Colonels notched a 3-1 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Aggies as they fell to 3-3, 0-1. Wilkes improved 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Kathy Kemper gave the Lady Colonels a 1-0 lead just 2:06 into the contest. Lauren Risser followed with a goal off an Erin Henry assist with 14:23 left in the half. Melissa Quinn then struck for an unassisted tally with just 59 seconds to go before the intermission.

Delaware Valley's lone goal came with 24:30 left in the game as sophomore Shannon Shivak scored her second goal of the season off an assist from senior Kelly Geissler.

Freshman Corrie Small made three saves for the Aggies. Hilary Weber and Jennifer Cole combined for two stops in the win.
