Field Hockey

Delaware Valley 2, Cedar Crest College 0

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Senior Kristin Cottman scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Delaware Valley College field hockey team to a 2-0 shutout over visiting Cedar Crest College in a non-conference game.

The victory was the second straight for the Aggies as they evened their record at 2-2. The Falcons fell to 0-2.

After a scoreless first half, Cottman set up sophomore Shannon Shivak for Shivak's first goal of the season with 13:59 remaining. The three-time all-conference honoree then converted on a penalty stroke with 5:49 to go to ice the game.

The performance upped Cottman's career point total to 69 (30 goals, 9 assists). She is now just six points shy of tying the Delaware Valley all-time record of 75 points held by 1983 graduate Diane Bradley.

The Aggies held a 22-8 advantage in shots. Freshman Corrie Small stopped seven shots to pick up her second straight shutout. Kristen Gustafson kept Cedar Crest in the contest with 17 saves.
