Widener University 2, Delaware Valley 1

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -Shannon Phelps scored two goals, including the game-winner with 10:49 remaining, as Widener University downed host Delaware Valley College, 2-1, in a non-conference game.

The Pioneers improved to 10-5 with the victory while the Aggies had their two-game winning streak snapped and they fell to 5-12.

The game was tied at 1-1 when Phelps took a feed from Melissa Pappas and beat Aggie goalkeeper Missy Cannon for the winning tally. Phelps also scored the first goal of the game just 8:50 into the contest.

Delaware Valley's goal came off the stick of freshman Shannon Shivak with 26:21 left in the game. It was Shivak's fifth goal of the season. Junior Kristin Cottman picked up the assist and moved into sole possession of fourth place on the Aggie all-time scoring list with 56 points (24 goals, 8 assists).

Widener outshot the Aggies, 23-11, in the contest. Katie Heritage made eight stops and picked up the win while Cannon finished with 13 saves.
