Delaware Valley 2, University of Scranton 1 (2 OT)

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Junior forward Kristin Cottman scored just 50 seconds into the second overtime as the Delaware Valley College field hockey team snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over The University of Scranton in a Freedom Conference game.

The win improved the Aggies to 4-11 overall and, more importantly, 2-2 and in sole possession of fourth place in the Freedom Conference with two conference games remaining. The top four team qualify for the conference playoofs.


Cottman took a feed from Tiffany LaRosa and beat Lady Royal (5-9, 0-4) goalkeeper Kim Reynolds for the game winner. The goal was the eighth of the season for Cottman and also moved her into a tie for fourth place on the Aggie all-time scoring list 55 points.

After a scoreless first half, freshman Shannon Shivak gave Delaware Valley a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the second stanza. Scranton sent the game to overtime as Elizabeth Thomas scored with just 1:47 to go in regulation.

Delaware Valley outshot the Lady Royals, 18-13. Missy Cannon made nine saves in the victory.
