Field Hockey

Delaware Valley 5, Neumann College 4

ASTON (PA) - Kristin Cottman scored two goals, including the game-winner with 17 minutes remaining as the Delaware Valley College field hockey team opened its season with a 5-4 victory over host Neumann College.

Cottman, a junior forward and two-time all-conference honoree, connected for the Aggies' first and finals goal of the day. Her first tally pulled Delaware Valley to within one, 2-1, in the first half. She then scored the unassisted tally midway through the second half for what turned out to be the game-winner.

Delaware Valley, which never led in the game until Cottman's second goal, also received two goals from senior forward and two-time all-conference honoree Sara Astbury. The four points moved Astbury into fifth place on the school's all-time scoring list as she now has 49 career points.

Freshman Shannon Shivak had a goal and an assist in her first collegiate game. The goal came in the second half and tied the contest at 4-4.
