Delaware Valley 2, College Misericordia 1

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -The red-hot Delaware Valley College field hockey team won its third game in a row and fifth in the last six games with a 2-1 victory over visiting College Misericordia in a non-conference game.

The Aggies are 8-12 overall and will now prepare for next week's Freedom Conference playoffs. Delaware Valley went 4-2 in conference play, earned the third seed and will travel to No. 2 Drew University for a semifinal match-up on Wednesday, November 5 (game time TBA). The winner of that game will battle the winner of the Manhattanville/King's contest in the Freedom Conference Championship Game on Saturday, November 8 at the higher seed.

Kristin Cottman gave Delaware Valley a 1-0 lead midway through the first half as she took a feed from Sara Astbury and scored her third goal in the last two games. Cottman is the team's leading scorer with 11 goals and two assists for 24 points.

It stayed 1-0 until 9:36 into the second half when Tiffany LaRosa scored an unassisted goal - her fourth of the season - to give the Aggies a 2-0 lead.

Misericordia (11-7) scored its lone goal of the game with 3:28 remaining as Sheena Hoffman got loose on a breakaway and beat Delaware Valley goalkeeper Lauren Duke. Duke made the save of the game with 20:47 left as she turned away Kim Daniel's penalty stroke attempt. She finished with four stops.
