Field Hockey

Delaware Valley 1, King's College 0

WILKES-BARRE (PA) - Natalie Stannard scored a first-half golf and the Delaware Valley College field hockey team made it stand as the Aggies kept their Freedom Conference playoffs alive with a 1-0 victory at King's College.

Delaware Valley is 6-12 overall, but, more importantly, 3-2 and in third place in the conference (the top four teams qualify for the playoffs). King's and FDU-Florham are right behind with 2-3 marks with all three teams having just one conference game remaining.

If the Aggies defeat FDU-Florham at home on Tuesday, they will clinch a postseason berth for the second time in the last three years. The Aggies may still get in with a loss if the tiebreakers fall in their favor.

Stannard took a feed from Sara Astbury and scored with 19:04 left in the first half for her fourth goal of the season. It was also a milestone assist for Astbury as the senior forward is now in sole possession of second place on the Delaware Valley all-time scoring list with 61 points (27 goals, 7 assists)

The Lady Monarchs outshot the Aggies, 31-13. However, junior Lauren Duke made 13 saves to pick the shutout.
