DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Shannon Shivak scored the lone goal of the game as the Delaware Valley College field hockey team posted a 1-0 victory over visiting Gwynedd-Mercy College in a non-conference game.

It was the home opener for the Aggies, who improved to 2-1 on the year. The Griffins fell to 0-3.

Shivak, a freshman, found the net for the second time this season off an assist from Kristin Cottman with 3:05 left in the first half. Delaware Valley's defense made it stand from there as it allowed just two shots in the contest.

Freshman Missy Cannon stopped both shots to pick up the shutout for the Aggies. Caitlin Pope made four saves for Gwynedd-Mercy.
