DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Kean University improved to 7-3 on the season with a 2-1 victory over host Delaware Valley College in a non-conference field hockey game.

The Cougars got on the board first with 5:28 remaining before halftime as Deanna Thomas scored off an assist by Cherie McNellis. They added to the lead with 13:32 to go in the contest as Laura Pointon notched an unassisted goal.

The Aggies (4-7) avoided the shutout with 1:53 left as junior Sara Astbury scored her third goal of the season.

Delaware Valley held an 18-12 edge in shots and a 15-8 edge in penalty corners. Leigh Stiffler made seven saves in the losing effort.
