Delaware Valley 2, Gwynedd-Mercy College 1

GWYNEDD-VALLEY (PA) -- The Delaware Valley College field hockey team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-1, non-conference victory at Gwynedd-Mercy College on Thursday.

The Aggies (4-6) jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first half when Kristin Cottman scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Tiffany LaRosa. Freshman Natalie Stannard made it 2-0 with 8:13 to go before intermission as the unassisted tally was her third of the season. She is tied with LaRosa for the team lead in goals.

The Griffins (1-10) answered just 65 seconds after Stannard's goal as Michelle LaFleur scored off a feed from Manelle Lueker. However, the Delaware Valley defense kept Gwynedd-Mercy off the scoreboard for the final 42 minutes of the game.

Both team had 17 shots on goal. Leigh Stiffler made 13 saves and picked up the victory for the Aggies.
