Delaware Valley 2, FDU-Florham 0

MADISON (NJ) - Sophomore Kelly Geissler and freshman Tiffany LaRosa scored their first collegiate goals to lead the Delaware Valley College field hockey team to a 2-0, Freedom Conference victory over host FDU-Florham (formerly FDU-Madison).

The Aggies, who qualified for the conference playoffs for the first time since 1980 last season, are now 1-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. FDU-Florham fell to 0-1, 0-1.

The game was scoreless at halftime. Geissler then took a feed from Kristin Cottman and beat Devils goalkeeper Lila Alfaro five minutes into the second stanza. It remained 1-0 until midway through the half when LaRosa scored off an assist from Katie Wessner.

Delaware Valley was dominant throughout as it held a 17-5 advantage in shots and a 14-3 edge in corners. Senior Leigh Stiffler made four saves en route to the shutout.
