Delaware Valley College 88, Keystone
College 68
LA PLUME (PA) - Moira Donohue followed up
her career high 33-point performance with 22 points and six assists
as Delaware Valley College won its second game in a row with an
88-68 triumph at Keystone College.
The Aggies are now 2-3 on the season and will look to even their
mark on Tuesday night, December 4 when they travel to Widener University
for a non-conference game. The loss dropped the Giants to 0-4.
Donohue, who led the Aggies to Tuesday's double-overtime victory
over Drew University, remained hot on Saturday as she connected
on eight of 13 shots from the field (3-for-6 from 3-point land)
and was 3-for-4 from the charity stripe in 31 minutes of action.
The senior guard also moved up the school's career scoring chart
and into 11th place with 972 points. She needs 15 points to pass
former All-American and current Widener head coach Alisa DiBonaventura
and is just 28 points away from becoming the 10th player in program
history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
Donohue helped key a first-half run that gave Delaware Valley control
of the contest. Down 9-8 in the early stages, the Aggies scored
10 straight points and 19 of 23 to take a 27-13 advantage with 10:43
left in the half. Donohue netted six points in the spurt while Kim
Vennera added seven.
Delaware Valley held a 49-40 lead at the break and led by double
digits for most of the second half. After allowing Keystone to shoot
66.7 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, the Aggie defense
clamped down and held them to 26.9 percent (7-for-26) in the second
stanza.
Vennera finished with a career-high 19 points and the sophomore
also added 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals from her guard
position. Freshman guard Brittany Battinieri had her best game of
her young collegiate career as she netted 19 points. Senior center
Brooke Dittmar added eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds in
the win.
Yasmeen Bates paced Keystone with 20 points while Kerry Fallon followed
with 19 points, five assists and four steals.
