Chestnut Hill College 62, Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Chestnut Hill College scored 10 of the game's
final 12 points as the Griffins posted a 62-54 victory over host
Delaware Valley College in a non-conference game.
The win lifted Chestnut Hill, which moved up to Division II this
season, to 2-1 while the Aggies fell to 0-3.
Down by five, Delaware Valley tied the contest as a three-point
play by Jessica Ruvolis and a Moira Donohue layup made it 52-52
with 3:14 remaining. However, it was all Chestnut Hill after that
as it scored six straight on consecutive layups by Tara Walsh, Jenna
Beck and Maryanne Glass. Kim Vennera's basket broke up the run and
pulled Delaware Valley to within four at 58-54 with 55 seconds remaining.
However, Carley Glass hit a pair of free throws with 29 seconds
left to make it a six-point ballgame. Beck finished off the scoring
with a pair of free throws with six ticks to go.
The Aggies took a 30-26 lead into the intermission as they went
on a 6-2 run in the final 2:26. They then opened the second stanza
with another 6-2 run to take their largest lead of the game at 36-28
with 15:06 remaining. Chestnut Hill rallied and their were three
ties and three lead changes until the Griffins took charge at the
end.
Beck and Walsh paced Chestnut Hill with 14 points apiece. Carley
Glass and Jessica Pruitti also hit double figures as they each scored
10 points
Vennera's 13 points led Delaware Valley. Brooke Dittmar notched
a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards while Shannon O'Neill
and Donohue contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.
