DONOHUE NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE PLAYER
OF THE WEEK
DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College senior guard Moira Donohue
(Philadelphia, PA/Cardinal Dougherty) has been named the Freedom
Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period
ending January 20.
It marks the second week in a row that an Aggie has received the
conference honor as Kim Vennera (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick)
earned the accolade for the period ending January 13.
Donohue averaged 24 points and 3.5 assists per game in a 2-0 for
Delaware Valley. She opened with 18 points in a 71-51 win over Arcadia
University on January 16 and, three days later, matched that point
total in the first half alone at Manhattanville College. Donohue
finished with 30 points in the 81-69 triumph as she shot 10-for-16
from the field, including a 6-for-8 effort from 3-point land.
Donohue leads Delaware Valley this season in scoring (16.9 avg),
assists (58) and 3-pointers (38). She is only one of two players
(current head coach Laura Hogan '90 is the other) in Aggie women's
basketball history to rank in the career top 10 in scoring (eighth
with 1,142 points), 3-pointers (fourth with 151), assists (fourth
with 311) and steals (seventh with 209).
Delaware Valley has won three straight and is 7-8 overall, 3-1 and
tied with FDU-Florham for first-place in the Freedom Conference.
The two teams meet in Madison, New Jersey on Wednesday, January
23 (6:00 p.m.).
