VENNERA NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College sophomore guard Kim Vennera (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick) has been named the Freedom Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending January 13.

Vennera had back-to-back career performances as she averaged 28.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week against the top two teams in the conference. She opened the week by notching 24 points, eight rebounds and five steals in a 70-59 loss at DeSales University on January 9.

Vennera topped that performance three days later by scoring 33 points as the Aggies rallied from a 17-point, second-half deficit and upended preseason conference favorite King's College, 64-62. The 33 points tied for the ninth-highest, single-game scoring total in school history.

Vennera leads the Freedom Conference with 2.8 steals per game while her 15.7 scoring average ranks fifth. She also averages 7.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists an outing for a Delaware Valley squad that is 5-8 overall and 1-1 in the league.

The Aggies return to action on Wednesday, January 16 (6:00 p.m.) when they host Arcadia University for a conference game.
