AGGIES SELECTED THIRD IN FREEDOM PRE-SEASON
POLL
DOYLESTOWN (PA) - The Delaware Valley College women's basketball
team has been picked to finish third and qualify for the Freedom
Conference playoffs according to a pre-season poll of conference
coaches.
The Aggies, under head coach Laura Hogan, received 25 points and
trailed only King's College and DeSales University in the poll.
King's, which reached the Freedom Conference championship game last
season, received five, first-place votes and a total of 35 points.
DeSales, a 2007 conference semifinalist, received the remaining
two first-place votes and 32 total points.
The entire 2007 Freedom Conference pre-season coaches' poll is as
follows:
1. King's College -- 35 points (5)
2. DeSales University -- 32 points (2)
3. Delaware Valley College -- 25 points
4. FDU-Florham -- 22 points
5. Wilkes University -- 12 points
6. Manhattanville College -- 11 points
7. Arcadia University -- 10 points
Delaware Valley returns four starters from last year's squad that
went 11-13 overall and 7-7 in the Freedom Conference. Heading the
cast of returnees is the backcourt tandem of seniors Moira Donohue
(Philadelphia, PA/Cardinal Dougherty) and Shannon O'Neill (Langhorne,
PA/Council Rock South), who were each selected to the all-Freedom
Conference second team last season after the two combined to average
28.5 points and nine assists per game while placing in the conference's
top 10 in a number of categories.
Delaware Valley begins its 2007-08 season on Saturday, November
17 (6:00 p.m.) when it battles Elmira College at the Pepsi/Weis
Markets Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Susquehanna University.
