WESTMINSTER (MD) - McDaniel went on a 21-2 run in the second half
as the Green Terror pulled away and registered a 67-55 victory over
visiting Delaware Valley College in a non-conference game.
The Aggies (3-4) never led in the contest and trailed by 11, 34-23,
at the break. However, they used an 11-2 run in the opening three
minutes of the second stanza to trail by just two, 36-34. Delaware
Valley had a number of chances to tie or take the lead but was still
down two, 38-36 with 12:48 remaining.
From there it was all McDaniel (6-2) as it used the big spurt over
the next 5:36 to open up a 59-38 advantage. The Green Terror held
a 46-34 advantage on the boards, including 20 offensive rebounds
that led to a 24-10 difference in second-chance points.
Heather Thompson paced McDaniel with 13 points and 14 different
players hit the scoring column. Delaware Valley was led by Moira
Donohue's game-high 17 points and the junior guard also added game-highs
of eight rebounds and eight steals. Stephanie Fanto came off the
bench to contribute nine points while Rachel Joyce added eight.
The Freedom Conference's leading scorer, Shannon O'Neill (17.3 avg),
was held scoreless in 23 minutes of action.
