Delaware Valley College 67, Lebanon Valley
College 53
DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Junior forward/center Brooke Dittmar scored a
career-high 21 points to help lead Delaware Valley College to a
67-53 victory over visiting Lebanon Valley College in a non-conference
game.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Aggies as they
improved to 4-6 on the season. The Flying Dutchmen fell to 3-6.
The 5-foot-11 Dittmar hit 10 of 12 shots from the field, en route
to topping her previous career high of 18 points against Widener
earlier this season. Dittmar also added seven rebounds in 29 minutes
of action.
Dittmar and fellow junior Moira Donohue keyed a 14-0, Delaware
Valley that turned an 8-4 deficit into an 18-8 lead with 12:11 remaining
in the first half. Donohue had eight points in the spurt while Dittmar
added four, including the go-ahead layup with 14:41 to go.
The Aggies built the lead to as many as 18, 30-12, and still had
a 17-point advantage before Lebanon Valley tallied the final four
points of the first half to trail 35-22 at the break.
The Flying Dutchmen pulled to within 11 on four separate occasions,
including when Donna Geiger capped a 7-0 run with a jumper to make
it 50-39 with 9:54 remaining. However, the Aggies quickly responded
with two baskets by Dena Santoro and a Shannon O'Neill layup sandwich
in-between and they were never threatened again.
Donohue finished with 16 points and eight assists while O'Neill
contributed 14 points and six helpers. Santoro added six points
in 11 minutes of action.
Lebanon Valley was led by Monica Johnson as the senior forward
notched 16 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots.
Cassie Moore and Geiger added 12 and nine points respectively while
Allie Butler recorded seven points and four assists.
