Delaware Valley College 67, Cabrini College 53

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College outscored visiting Cabrini College 45-27 in the second half, en route to a 67-53, non-conference victory on Saturday.

The win was the second straight for the Aggies as they improved their overall record to 5-6 on the season. They will now get ready for a critical stretch of the season as the their next seven games are against Freedom Conference opponents, beginning with a road contest at Drew University on Wednesday, January 10.

The Aggies came flying out of the game as they hit six of their first nine shots from the field and built a 14-4 advantage. However, they were just 2-for-21 for the final 15 minutes of the first half as their last field goal was with 6:17 left on the clock and their last points came on a pair of Stephanie Fanto free throws with 4:48 to go. Meanwhile, Cabrini (6-3) scored the final nine points of the stanza, including five by Kayleen Smith, to take a 26-22 lead into the intermission.

Delaware Valley regained the lead just more than four minutes into the second half and still held a 35-33 advantage with 12:25 remaining. The Aggies then went on a 9-0 run, keyed by Shannon O'Neill's five points, to open an 11-point lead with 9:49 left in the game.

Delaware Valley upped the lead to as many as 16 and still held a 52-37 advantage with 5:29 remaining, when the Cavaliers scored eight straight points to pull to within seven, 52-45, with 3:44 to go. The Aggies scored the next four points before a 3-pointer by Cabrini's Deanna DiAmico made it 56-48 with 2:03 remaining. However, Delaware Valley put the game with an 8-0 spurt.

O'Neill finished with game-highs of 18 points and eight assists while Moira Donohue posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Kim Vennera added 10 points and nine boards while Brooke Dittmar and Rachel Joyce chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds apiece.

DiAmico notched 12 points to pace the Cavaliers. Smith finished with eight points and 11 rebounds while Kate Ryan added eight points, five assists and four rebounds.
