Basketball Delaware Valley 87, Marywood
University 65 DOYLESTOWN (PA) - The Delaware Valley College women's
basketball team improved to 11-5 on the season with an 87-65 victory over visiting
Marywood University in a non-conference game. The Aggies controlled the
temp from the opening tip, but a Liz McGill layup brought the Pacers (4-10) to
within four, 22-18, with 6:04 remaining before halftime. However, Delaware Valley
scored 16 of the next 20 points, including eight by Rachel Joyce, to build a 38-22
advantage with 1:48 left. The team eventually took a 40-28 lead into the intermission. Marywood
scored in the early moments of the second stanza to cut its deficit to 10, but
that was as close as the Pacers would come as the Aggies shot 57.7 percent from
the field in the final 20 minutes and their lead hovered around 18 for most of
the half. Joyce finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds in just 26 minutes
of action. Moira Donohue added 13 points, five assists, four rebounds and three
steals while Kristin Bone came off the bench to record 10 points and five boards
in 16 minutes. Juli McGowan and Brooke Dittmar had nine and eight points respectively
while Shannon O'Neill chipped in with seven points, nine assists and seven steals. Kaelyn
Brudnok paced Marywoood with 17 points while also adding five assists and four
rebounds. Samantha Christoper scored 11 points while Caity Hadzimichalis hit double
digits with 10. Alicia Woodruff had eight points and a team-high 12 rebounds before
fouling out. |
