Delaware Valley 75, Lycoming College 57

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College used a big run in each half to propel itself to a 75-57 home victory over Lycoming College in a Freedom Conference game.

The win was the second straight for Delaware Valley as it improved to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Aggies have now matched their entire win total from last season (12-12) and they still have eight regular-season games remaining. The Lady Warriors fell to 4-11 and 1-5.

Delaware Valley led from start to finish but an Andrea Cooper 3-pointer pulled Lycoming to within four, 15-11, with 14:06 remaining. However it was all Aggies for the next seven minutes as they scored 24 of the 30 points that followed for a 39-17 advantage. Juli McGowan poured in 10 points in the spurt while Moira Donohue had eight.

At that point, the Aggies had shot a blistering 63 percent from the field and had no turnovers. They finished with four miscues in the half and their shooting percentage went down to 52.9 percent as Lycoming pulled to within 14, 43-29, at the break.

Delaware Valley still held a 14-point advantage, 56-42, with 11:54 to go in the contest. However, the Lady Warriors scored seven straight to pull to within seven, 56-49, with 8:59 left on the clock.

Rachel Joyce hit three free throws over the next minute for the Aggies, but Amy Kile hit a jumper just inside the 3-point line to get Lycoming within eight, 59-51, with 7:37 remaining. However, Brooke Dittmar's three-point play ignited a 10-0 run by the Aggies to put the game.

McGowan paced the Aggies with 23 points and also added seven rebounds. Donohue notched 20 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals while Joyce had 15 points, seven boards and five assists. Dittmar hit double figures with 10 points and added six rebounds while Kate McCarthy dished out a game-high seven assists.

Danielle Kern's 15 points led Lycoming while Cooper finished with 14. Kile and Stacy Lindeman added 12 apiece with Lindeman also grabbing a team-best eight boards.
