Basketball Delaware Valley 81, Lincoln
University 49 DOYLESTOWN (PA) - The Delaware Valley College
women's basketball team led from start to finish as the Aggies notched an 81-49
victory over visiting Lincoln University in a non-conference game. It was
the Aggies' fifth win in their six games and improved their record to 9-3 on the
season. The Lions fell to 3-11 with the loss. Delaware Valley, behind eight
points by Rachel Joyce and four by Moira Donohue, raced out to a 14-2 lead in
the first five minutes of the game. The Aggies still led 21-10 when Lincoln answered
with nine straight points to make it a two-point ballgame with 6:55 left in the
half. However, Delaware Valley closed the first stanza with a 16-6 run to
take a 37-23 advantage into the intermission and Lincoln never got closer than
nine points the rest of the way. Juli McGowan hit three layups and a pair of 3-pointers
in the spurt for 12 of her 17 points. Joyce paced the Aggies with 19 points,
12 rebounds and three blocks while Donohue added 15 points, eight assists, five
rebounds and five steals. Shannon O'Neill had eight points and four assists while
rookies Michelle Oyer and Kristen Bone came off the bench to contribute eight
and seven points respectively. Asha Atkinson had 14 points, five rebounds
and four assists for the Lions while Mary Rotimi added 11 points and a game-high
13 rebounds. |
