ST. DAVIDS (PA) - The Delaware Valley College women's basketball
team opened the 2006 portion of its schedule with an 82-48 rout
of host Eastern University in a non-conference game.
The Aggies, playing in their first game since December 20, improved
to 7-2 on the season including wins in five of their last six. The
Eagles fell to 1-8 with the loss.
Delaware Valley jumped out to a 9-2 lead and never looked back.
The Aggies built the lead up to 22, 47-25, at halftime and then
led by as many as 39 in the second stanza. They shot 50 percent
from the field (32-for-64) and forced 23 Eastern turnovers.
Rachel Joyce was one of four Aggies to reach double figures as
she posted game highs of 19 points and nine rebounds in just 23
minutes of action. Moira Donohue notched 15 points, eight rebounds,
eight assists and four steals in 25 minutes while Brooke Dittmar
and Juli McGowan added 12 and 10 points respectively. Kate McCarthy
finished the night with nine points and Shannon O'Neill added seven
points, seven assists and three steals.
Raya Shores paced the Eagles with 12 points while Mandy Kulken
added 10.
