Delaware Valley 71, Drew University 65
MADISON (NJ) - Delaware Valley College rallied from a four-point
halftime deficit and downed host Drew University, 71-65, in a key
Freedom Conference game.
The Aggies (16-6, 8-3) remained in sole possession of second place
in the conference with the victory. They are one game ahead of DeSales,
two ahead of King's and three games ahead of Drew. Just three games
remain in the regular season and the top four teams qualify of the
Freedom Conference playoffs.
Delaware Valley also avoided a series sweep by Drew as the Rangers
picked up a win in Doylestown last month. The Aggies did so by erasing
a 36-32 deficit at the break and outscoring Drew, 39-29, in the
second stanza. The team got the job done on the foul line, making
22 of 26 attempts (84.6%), including a 17-for-19 (89.5%) effort
in the second half
Moira Donohue and Juli McGowan paced Delaware Valley with 15 and
13 points respectively. Donohue went 7-for-8 from the foul line,
including a 5-for-6 showing in the second half. McGowan was perfect
on all six of her free throw attempts with all the trips to the
charity stripe taking place in the second half.
Freshman forward Kristin Bone had a big game off the bench with
12 points, including 10 in the second stanza. Rachel Joyce added
12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds while Shannon O'Neill also
hit double figures with 10 points.
Melissa Kraft netted 24 points while Ann Mularz chipped in 17 for
Drew.
