Women's Basketball - 2005-06 Season
Head
coach Laura Hogan and the Aggies finished the 2005-06 season with
a 17-9 overall record and a 9-5 mark in the Freedom Conference.
The young team with just one senior in its starting lineup was
picked to finish sixth by the coaches in the preseason poll. However,
season sweeps of FDU-Florham, King's College, Lycoming College and
Wilkes University paved the way towards their best conference regular
season finish in Hogan's 10-year tenure and the Aggies' sixth playoff
appearance in the last eight years.
The Aggies finished tied with DeSales University in the standings,
but DeSales was awarded home court for their playoff match-up due
to a series sweep in the regular season. Delaware Valley came out
strong and scored the first 10 points of the contest, but an 18-3
run in the second half led to a 61-48 DeSales victory.
Junior forward/guard Rachel Joyce was named to the all-Freedom
Conference second team - the first such accolade is her career.
Joyce led the team and ranked in the conference's top 10 in both
scoring (seventh - 14.2 avg) and rebounding (8.1 avg) while also
placing sixth in the Freedom in blocks (0.79 avg) and eighth in
free throw percentage (.772).
Sophomore guard Moira Donohue placed second in the Freedom Conference
in both assists (3.85 avg) and steals (2.96 avg) while finishing
eighth in scoring with an average of 13.7 points per contest.
