Delaware Valley 72, Marywood University 71


SCRANTON (PA) - Juli McGowan hit a 3-pointer with 17.1 seconds remaining as Delaware Valley
College rallied for a 72-71 victory over host Marywood University in a non-conference game.

The Aggies improved to 6-4 while the Pacers fell to 3-7.

Delaware Valley trailed 69-65 with 2:03 remaining before it went on a 7-0 run to take the lead for good. Shannon O'Neill began the run with a 3-pointer and Bridget Golden hit one of two free throws to tie the contest. McGowan, who was 1-for-7 in 3-point attempts at the time, nailed the trey for a 72-69 advantage.

Marywood's Kaelyn Brudnok was fouled seconds later and she hit both shots to make it 72-71. Moria Donohue missed a pair of foul shots for the Aggies with 11.2 seconds remaining, and the Pacers had one last chance. A 10-foot jumper by Ann Brennan fell short with 1.2 seconds to go and Delaware Valley escaped with the victory.

Golden had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Delaware Valley while Rachel Joyce added 18 points and eight boards. Donohue finished with 12 points while McGowan had six, including the game-winning 3-pointer.

Brennan paced Marywood with 16 points while Alicia Woodruff and Stephanie Dolinak had 15 and 14 points respectively.
