Aggies Go 2-0 At Jim Crawley Classic, Joyce Named MVP

FROSTBURG (MD) - Sophomore forward Rachel Joyce notched game highs of 16 points and 14 rebounds and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Jim Crawley Classic as she led the Aggies to a 61-53 victory over host Frostburg State University.

Delaware Valley improved to 2-0 on the young season and posted the best mark at the two-day event. The Bobcats fell to 1-1.

Joyce finished the two days with 36 points and 25 rebounds, en route to earning the MVP award. She scored Delaware Valley's final six points against Frostburg as part of a 10-0 Aggie run in the final 3:28 that erased a 53-51 deficit.

Freshman Shannon O'Neill hit a pair of free throws to tie the game at 53-53 and fellow rookie followed with a pair of her own to give Delaware Valley the lead for good with 2:57 remaining. Joyce took care of the rest, including a key three-point play with 1:55 remaining to up the Aggie lead to 59-53.

Senior center Bridget Golden earned a spot on the all-classic team as she scored 29 points in the two games, including 16 against Frostburg. Golden also added six rebounds and four blocks in the game. O'Neill finished with 15 points while Strohecker added 12 points and five rebounds.

Little Tracey and Mello Ashley paced Frostburg State with 12 and 10 points respectively, Tracey added 12 rebounds and two blocks in the loss.
