Drew University 58, Delaware Valley 49


MADISON (NJ) - Delaware Valley College had its four-game winning streak snapped with a 58-49, Freedom Conference loss at Drew University on Wednesday night.

The loss dropped the Aggies to 7-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play while the Rangers improved to 10-4, 2-1.

Delaware Valley scored the final 11 points of the first half, including back-to-back 3-pointers by Moira Donohue, to take a 26-23 lead into the intermission. The Aggies then scored the first seven points of the second stanza for an 18-0 run and a 10-point lead, 33-23, with 16:39 remaining.

However, Drew battled back and took the lead for good as Sarah Marquez hit a 3-pointer with 7:27 to go for a 43-40 score. The Aggies pulled to within one, 45-44 as Jennifer McCarthy hit a pair of free throws with 4:25 left, but Drew went on an 8-0 run to put the game away.

Rachel Joyce and Juli McGowan paced Delaware Valley with 11 points apiece while Joyce also added a game-high 10 rebounds and three steals. Jackie Hartzell came off the bench to notch 10 points in the loss.

Maggie Marquis scored a game-high 15 points for Drew. Melissa Kraft and Jennifer Weldon added 14 and 13 points respectively.
