DeSales University 61, Delaware Valley 55

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - DeSales University went on a 12-0 run late in the second half as the Lady Bulldogs erased a five-point deficit and defeated host Delaware Valley College, 61-55, in a Freedom Conference game.

The Aggies (11-11, 3-9) took a 50-45 lead with 6:46 remaining as Jackie Hartzell drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key. However, DeSales (18-6, 9-4), behind the play of seniors Alyssa Antolick and Holly Liebl, scored 12 straight points to take a 57-50 advantage with 1:51 remaining.

Anotlick started the spurt with a 3-pointer than followed with a layup to make it a 50-50 ballgame. Antolick then grabbed a defensive rebound and fed Liebl for a layup and a lead they would never relinquish. Liebl followed with two more layups and a free throw during the run.

Delaware Valley did get to within four on two occasions, the last coming with 13 seconds left on a Moira Donohue basket. However another DeSales senior, Jen Netwall, canned two free throws for the 61-55 finale.

The game was tied 26-26 at the half and featured five lead changes and six ties. The Lady Bulldogs forced 18 Aggie turnovers while giving the ball up on just eight occasions.

Antolick finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Liebl added 19 points and 11 boards. Netwall joined them in double figures with 12.

Senior center Bridget Golden became Delaware Valley's all-time leading rebounder as she finished with a game-high 12 boards to up her career total to 963 and pass former teammate and 2002 graduate Lauren Snyder (951) for the top spot. Golden did have a streak of nine straight double-doubles snapped as she notched just seven points on the evening.

Rachel Joyce paced the Aggies with 16 points and also added 11 rebounds while Donohue and Jackie Hartzell added 11 apiece. Hartzell nailed three treys in the game to become just the sixth player in school history to record 100 or more 3-pointers in a career (102).
