Rowan University 75, Delaware Valley 71

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Rowan scored six straight points in a two-minute span late in the second half as the Profs picked up a 75-71 road victory over Delaware Valley College in a non-conference game.

The Aggies (6-3) never led in the contest until Jackie Hartzell capped a 6-0 run with a pair of free throws with 2:28 remaining to give them a 68-67 advantage. Rachel Joyce and Bridget Golden also scored two points apiece in the spurt.

However, Rowan (10-2) answered just 14 seconds later on a Melissa Wallace layup. The Profs then added to their lead as Stephanie Finke hit a pair of free throws with 1:44 left and Jaime McCormack hit a layup with 53 seconds to go for a 73-68 advantage. Delaware Valley never closer than four points the rest of the way.

Rowan led by as many as 10, 37-27, late in the first half, but the Aggies hit back-to-back layups in the final minute to make it a six-point game at the break. Delaware Valley tailed by just six despite shooting 34.2 percent from the field, including a 1-for-11 effort (9.1%) from 3-point land.

Golden, a junior, paced the Aggies with 24 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. Joyce, a freshman, finished with a career-high 22 points while Hartzell also reached double figures with 11 points.

McCormack scored 31 points and dished out six assists to lead the Profs. Kami Bernardo added 17 points while Samantha Eskuchen notched five points, a game-high 17 rebounds and three blocks.
