Delaware Valley 88, FDU-Florham 84 (OT)

MADISON (NJ) -- Senior Shannon McCormick scored a career-high 26 points and helped Delaware Valley College rally from a 13-point, second-half deficit as the Aggies downed host FDU-Florham, 88-84, in overtime of a Freedon Conference game.

The win upped Delaware Valley's record to 10-8 overall, 5-4 and fourth place in conference play with five Freedom games remaining (six overall). The top four teams in the regular season qualify for the conference playoffs. The Devils fell to 3-15, 1-7 with the loss.

After taking a 39-33 halftime lead, FDU-Florham outscored the Aggies 13-7 to extend its lead to 13 with 14:39 left. Delaware Valley was still down nine with 5:19 left but made it a three-point contest with less than a minute remaining.

Trailing 76-73, Junior guard Jackie Hartzell drilled a 3-pointer to tie the game. McCormick then gave the Aggies the lead by hitting a jumper with 34 seconds to go. FDU-Florham retied the contest 16 seconds later as Nicole Iannotto made a layup. Delaware Valley had three looks at the basket in the final seconds but a Juli McGowan 3-point attempt and two follow-ups by McCormick fell short.

The Aggies then outscored the Devils, 10-6, in the extra session despite going 0-for-5 from the field. They were a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line to pull out the victory.

McCormick shot 10-for-17 from the field, en route to her career-high total. She also grabbed 10 rebounds and moved into 12th place on the Delaware Valley all-time list with 394 boards.

Hartzell finished with 18 points, eight rebounds, four assists and five steals. McGowan came off the bench to notch 12 points while Kate McCarthy added nine points and eight rebounds. Junior center Bridget Golden recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and moved into 11th place all-time in scoring with 821 points.

Pamela Sagehorn led the Devils with 26 points while Jessie Chalmers had 19 points.
